1. Drang-Drung Glacier

How to reach:
You can reach to Drang-Drung Glacier by Srinagar airport in 2 days and 331 km by car or bus which leads by NH 1D,  a national highway which connects Srinagar and Leh through the towns of Ganderbal, Kangan and Dras. From kargil the glacier lies on the right side of the Kargil-Zanaskar road, which take you at Suru river and under the shades of 2 mountain peak of Nun and Kun. After crossing the Pensi La Mountain pass a trek of one day from the road to the head of Drang-Drunga Glacier.

Drang-Drung Glacier is likely to be the largest glacier in Ladakh. It is mountain Glacier near to Pensi La mountain pass at the kargil-Zanaskar road in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir in India. Glacier have maximum length of 23 km at an average elevation of 5000 m. The glacier in fact looks like a winding river from Pensi La, the difference being that instead of water it’s a river of ice. Drang Drung is one of the major attractions of Zanaskar region and augments the chanrm of this adventure junky paradise. It is one of the best place of India to visit.

2. Nubra Valley, Laddakh

How to reach:
You can reach in about 5 – 6 Hrs depending upon the number of break you take in between. Do try to ensure you do not stay more than 15 minutes at Khardung La as you will start to get hit with AMS because body cannot cope up with that high altitude, so quickly in the trip, for that long. Anyways, the route to Nubra Valley from Leh along with distance between the subsequent places is as follows:
Leh – Khardung La Pass  40 KM, Khardung Village 34 KMs, Khalsar 23 KMs, Diskit 19 KMs, total 116 KMs.

Nubra Valley is one of the MUST VISIT places in Ladakh especially if you are visiting for the first time. Nubra Valley is tri-armed valley located to the north east of Laddakh valley. Some people say its original name was Ldumra the valley of flowers. Diskit the capital of Nubra is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Laddakh district India. The Shyok river meets the Nubra to from a large valley that separates the Laddakh and Karakoram ranges. The major attraction of a trip to Nubra Valley is going over the so called or hyped, highest motorable road, Khardung La Pass Being at lower altitude than Leh at an average altitude of 10000 Feet or 3048 Mtrs, Nubra Valley is an ideal place to fit into the acclimatization schedule of your Ladakh trip once you reach Leh.

3. Darjeeling Tea Fields

How to reach:
The district has a network of several main connector roads and national highways which pass through. Darjeeling district is connected to West Bengal and the rest of the country by National Highway 31, National Highway 31C, and National Highway 55. Siliguri, strategically located in the plains, is an important transit town for the upper regions of the district, and for Sikkim and other north eastern states. The NH 31 passing through Siliguri connects the district to Jharkhand, Bihar and ends at Guwahati in Assam. It also connects Gangtok in Sikkim. NH 31C passing through Bagdogra and Naxalbari connects the district to Bijni in Assam. NH 55 connects Siliguri to Darjeeling.

Tea Tourism is a relatively new concept in the world and Darjeeling is a taking a lead in this area.  Darjeeling tea is a tea from the Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. It is available in black, white, green and oolong. Unlike the most Indian teas, Darjeeling tea is made from the small-leaved Chinese variety of Camellia Sinensis var. There are 80 odd operational tea gardens in Darjeeling that span across thousands of acres of land area on open hill slopes. High on the hills with cool breeze and misty weather, planters and workers come together to form a wonderland where tea grows in the finest form like no where else in the world. 

4. Leh

How to reach:
Leh is connected to the rest of India by two high-altitude roads both of which are subject to landslides and neither of which are passable in winter when covered by deep snows. The National Highway 1D from Srinagar via Kargil is generally open longer. The Leh-Manali Highway can be troublesome due to very high passes and plateaus, and the lower but landslide-prone Rohtang Pass near Manali. Leh's Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport has flights to Delhi at least daily on Jet Airways and/or Indian Airlines and/or Air India which also provides twice weekly services to Jammu and a weekly flight to Srinagar. Connect in Delhi for other destinations. Go Air operates Delhi to Leh daily flights during peak time. There are no railways currently in Ladakh, however 2 railway routes are proposed- Bilaspur-Mandi-Leh route and Sringar-Kargil-Leh route. Leh was the capital of Himalaya Kingdom of Laddakh but now Leh is district of Jammu and Kashmir. Leh is second largest district in the country with an area of 45,110 km. Leh is at an altitude of 3524 km and connect via National Highway 1D to Srinagar in the southwest and to the Manali in the south via the Leh-Manali Highway. Unlike other districts of the State, Laddakh  Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) is in charge of governance in Leh. The 'Deputy Commissioner, Leh' also holds the power of 'Chief Executive Officern LAHDC'. The Current Deputy Commissioner of Leh  is Shri Prasanna Ramaswamy G, IAS. Leh has cold desert climate with long, harsh winter from October to March, with minimum temperatures well below freezing for most of the winter.

5. Key Gompa, Himachal Pradesh

How to reach:
Although Lahaul and Spiti are usually taken as one unit, they are two different destinations. Starting from Manali towards Rohtang Pass and Leh, you arrive at a junction near Yari-Khoksar. From there, the eastbound road leads to Karcha, Spiti, Kaza, and, after a very long loop, bends southwards to merge into NH22 and continue far south to Shimla. The westwards route from Yari-Khoksar continues as NH21 to Lahaul, Keylong, a string of hairpin bends, and the More Plains, eventually reaching Ladakh and Leh. The passes (Rohtang and Kunzum La)coming from Manali side are usually closed until mid-May, whereas Reckong Peo Pass coming from the Shimla side can usually be traversed year round.

Ki Monastery or Key Gompa is also spelled Ki, Kye or Kee. The biggest centre of Buddhist learning in Spiti Valley, Key Monastery is over 1000-year-old. It is the oldest training centre for Lamas. Key Gompa is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of the hill at an altitude of 4166 meters above sea level and close to the Spiti River, in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh Lahaul and Spiti district, India. The monastery is famous for its architecture called Pasada style. Pasada style is characterised by two or more stories and often plays the role of a fort-monastery. The monastery is spread over three floors – underground, ground and first floor. Underground is mainly utilized for storage; ground floor is used as assembly hall, called Du-Khang. The ground floor also has small rooms for monks.
