Time to know how USB 2.0 destroy your PCs in a second

USB KILL 2.0.

The USB kill 2.0 is testing device that used to test the power surge attacks against USB ports and also test your device’s resistance against this attack. The USB kill collects power from USB power lines until it reaches -240V, upon which it discharge the stored voltage into the USB data lines. It happen multiple times per second because is speed is very high.

Purpose of USB kill 2.0:
1. It allows you to test your USB kill 2.0 without damaging your host device.
2. It prevents data theft via juice-jacking.

How it is destroying:

When plug in, the USB kill 2.0 rapidly charges its capacitors via the USB power supply, and then discharges – all in a matter of seconds.
If you use a charger port that is not your own, then device
steal your data while you are charging.
During test of USB over 90% of device are affected by a USB power surge attack. Almost all hardware fails when tested against USB Kill. The most frequent outcome is the complete destruction of the device.
The concept of USB was designed by Russian researcher Dark Purple last year to effectively destroy sensitive components of a computer when plugged in. But someone is actually created the Killer USB stick that destroyed almost anything like laptops, PCs or television also.
When it tested on computer, the device isn’t designed to erase the data. However depending upon the hardware configuration vs. platter HDD of device, the device controller may be damaged to the point the data retrieval is impractical.

How it Useful:
It is like, if you are caught then kill yourself, in the same way as terrorist do. It’s mean erase your data in condition of if your laptop is caught by law of enforcement.

USB kill is mainly designed for ‘juice jacking’. Juice jacking is type of cyber attack wherein malware installed on your computer can surreptitiously copy data from tablet, Smartphone or other computer using USB discharging port that doubles as a data connection, typically over USB.

It also available online and it cost $49.95. USB kill 2.0 come with USB protection shield called test shield that allow USB killer stick test your own device without any destroying anything but it have additional $15.70 cost.
