Tiger Temple

Tiger temple is located in Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Province, Bangkok in west of the country, it also known as Wat Pha Luang Ta Bu Yannasampanno. It was founded by sanctuary of wild animal and forest temple in 1994. Tiger Temple received first tiger club in 1999 and seven more in same year. Tiger temple recorded 137 tigers in 2016.

Mostly you will find the Bengal tigers with other being hybrid breeds in Tiger temple and also report of jackals, Asian bears being kept without the necessary permits.

They charge are charged $16 as admission fee with extra cost to pet the tigers. Many people come every year to visit this beautiful place and take pictures with animals.

In May 2016 the tigers were relocating intending to close facility by Thailand Wildlife Conservation Office. According to the Wildlife Friend Foundation of Thailand it is the biggest and most popular for tourist and number of tourist come and enjoy with these sweet animals.

Controversy of Tiger Temple:

From long time Buddhist monks face problem due to mistreatments of tigers, illegal breeding and animal trafficking but all have repeatedly denied by them.

Former worker who had work in tiger temple, claimed the tiger are beaten, not well fed, required
veterinarian care and kept in small concrete cages. According to the report of National Geographic that monks are operating for profit breeding business and many evidences are found against them of animal trafficking has taken place.

In December 2014, three adult male tigers are irremeable from the temple, but they all of had been micro-chipped, that allows them to be tracked.

But on 4 March, the temple posted on its Facebook page that denounce the selling of tigers from temple were not true adding by monks of temple.

They posted that relocation of tigers was due to animal welfare. According to the WFFT the temple had earned $2.8m annually and monks also had committed that they generate some income from tiger cub activities.

From 2001 there has been battle is going on between wildlife groups and monks. From many years the department of National parks has tried to impound the tigers but they were stopped by the monks of the temple.

In recent monks applied to license for zoo again to legally continue holding the animal, it’s provisionally granted but then revoked soon after due to recent tiger cub activities.

In 2016 wildlife authority began an operation to remove all living tiger from tiger temple.

In 2016 more than 97 tigers are rescued from 1000 personnel operation.

One member of authority said “It was harder to catch the tigers due to temple’s lack of authority, that show them release the tigers off the chains”.

Authority was found more than 30 dead tiger cubs in temple freezer along with additional animal body part. According to the member of authority they had died short of time before the raid and also the monks had not reported the birth of any tiger for last two or three month.

After that the injured tiger would transfer to two government breeding center.

Tiger is one of the most beautiful animals on planet. They play their majestic strength and beauty.

Tiger give message that “Nothing is impossible if you get up and work for it”.
